Patient Privacy Information

Every patient has the right to have their private life, bodily integrity, and the confidentiality of their personal information respected during examination, tests, treatment, care, and other health services. This right continues in terms of the confidentiality of health information even after the health service ends and after the person's death.

Examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and procedures requiring direct contact with the patient are conducted in a reasonable environment of privacy. The patient's body is not left exposed beyond what the procedure requires; privacy is observed during preparation, dressing, transfer, and care processes.

• Only healthcare personnel necessary for the service are present in the environment.
• The patient may indicate who they want to be present; medical safety and the rights of other patients are reserved.
• For educational purposes, when an observer is present or individuals outside the direct care team are involved, the patient is informed and necessary consent is obtained.
• The patient's cultural and spiritual values are considered to the extent that they do not hinder healthcare services.

Identity information, reason for application, examination findings, diagnosis, tests, images, prescriptions, treatment and care records are personal health data and are protected as specially qualified personal data. Only persons who need access due to their duties and authorities can access this information to the necessary extent.

• Information cannot be disclosed, accessed unlawfully, or used for purposes other than its intended purpose.
• Conversations about the patient are conducted in environments where third parties cannot hear and are limited to the extent required by the service.
• Authorization, access control, and other appropriate administrative and technical measures are applied to ensure the security of records.
• Information is shared only in cases stipulated by legislation, upon requests from authorized authorities, or based on a valid legal reason.

As a rule, information regarding the health status and treatment process is provided to the patient themselves. The patient can indicate the people to whom they want information to be given and the scope of the information that can be shared; they can also request that certain people not be given information. In cases where the patient lacks decision-making capacity or legal representation is required, the relevant provisions of the legislation are applied.

Medical records required for diagnosis and treatment are created in accordance with relevant legislation. The use of photos, videos, or audio recordings that identify the patient for purposes such as promotion, education, scientific research, or similar is evaluated separately; these records are not shared without providing the necessary information and meeting legal requirements.

• Consent to be given must be specific, informed, and based on free will.
• The patient's refusal does not negatively affect their access to healthcare services or the quality of the service.
• The patient should not make unauthorized recordings in the healthcare facility in order to protect the privacy of others.
